Ravenwind &
Black Feathers Tarot

I am Ravenwind Crowley Pendragon: a Witch, High Priest of Wicca, intuitive counselor, Reiki Master, artist, and aspiring author. My work brings art and spiritual practice together, creating space for reflection, transformation, and the mysteries of the soul.

I have known decks where corvids appear as decoration, but I wanted the birds to carry the story themselves. My connection to The Morrighan and the shapeshifting traditions of Celtic and Faerie Magick led me to ask: what if every figure shifted?

In Black Feathers Tarot, ravens, crows, magpies, jays, and choughs embody every figure, with no human characters. Their behaviors and symbolism carry archetypes mapped to the Rider-Waite-Smith and Thoth frameworks, while the deck speaks in a voice of its own.

Each card is drawn and painted by hand, beginning with a sketch and developing through the artist’s physical work. A digital finishing pass then refines the line, tone, and color, preserving the hand-made foundation of the image.

The deck is rooted in Witchcraft and a Pagan and Wiccan worldview, not Christian or Jewish theology. Its gothic language is an artistic expression of that worldview, not a theological framework borrowed from another faith.

The Fool’s journey is the soul’s continuous cycle of birth, shedding, death, and awakening. A card reflects a moment along that path, inviting the reader or querent to recognize what is changing and what is ready to emerge.

The deck acknowledges the visual language of Rider-Waite-Smith and Thoth while reimagining its figures as corvids. Pamela Colman Smith’s foundational illustrations are honored as part of that artistic lineage.

Black Feathers Tarot is in production now, with the artwork being renewed across the deck. Publication is targeted for October 2028 under Nightshade & Thorn; this is a pre-launch introduction, not a sale.
